The 28-year-old from Navagam-Khed in Gujarat reached the milestone with a six over wide long-on, off the bowling off Nathan Lyon in the 87th over.

It was his second six of the innings. In the previous over, he hit Steve O'Keefe for a huge six over long-on. Here's the VIDEO.

Jadeja, who dethroned team-mate Ravichandran Ashwin as the top-ranked ICC Test bowler, entered the match 12 runs short of 1000th run.

This is his 30th Test match.

India, in reply to Australia's first innings total of 300, made 248/6 after 91 overs' play.
