India vs England (IND vs ENG) 2nd Test Day 1 Highlights: KL Rahul completed a fine century as his innings provided India with a perfect start in the second Test against England in Lord's on Thursday. The right-handed batsman, who is still present at the crease, kicked-off the show along with Rohit Sharma.

Rohit did much of the scoring in the initial phase and also went on to complete his half-century, while Rahul played the perfect second-fiddle in the middle, helping India edge past the 100-run-mark.    


The pair added 126 runs for the opening wicket, before James Anderson clean bowled Rohit with on 83 from 115 deliveries.  



Meanwhile, Cheteshwar Pujara's ominous run continued as Anderson removed him on 9(23), picking his second wicket of the day. Rahul, on the other hand, carried forward his supreme form as the batsman scored yet another half-century. India were batting at 157/2 with Rahul and Virat Kohli present in the middle as umpires called for Tea.   


After the interval both Kohli and Rahul continued from where they left and have added a healthy partnership for the third-wicket. Rahul then went on to complete his sixth Test ton. 



Rahul took 202 balls to reach the feat and riding on his innings, India are currently placed in the driving seat with 245/2 on the board. 


Soon after Rahul's century, Ollie Robinson provided England with the much-needed breakthrough as he dismissed Kohli on 42, after he nicked a ball straight to Joe Root standing at slips.


India finished the day 276/3 with Rahul and team vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane present in the middle. The opener is playing on 127 off 248 balls, while Rahane is batting on 1.    


After a delayed start, England won the toss and invited India to bat first in the second Test at Lord's on Thursday. Ishant Sharma comes in the playing XI for India in place of injured Shardul Thakur.


While England, on the other hand, have made three changes as Haseeb Hameed comes in for Zak Crawley, Mark Wood replaces injured Sturar Broad, and Moeen Ali is roped in for Lawrence.  


After a delay due to rain, the match started with Rohit and Rahul leading the proceedings for India and veteran pacer James Anderson started the attack for the hosts. 


The Indian opening pair started on a cautious note and added just 11 on the scoreboard after the first ten overs. The pair then started to play freely and fetched runs quickly as compared to the first ten overs.  



With rain affecting the proceedings, the umpires called for an early lunch.

Unlike Nottingham, rain is not likely to washout the entire day’s play at Lord’s and cricket fans can look forward to some thrilling action. Thursday morning in London is expected to be cloudy with 70 per cent cloud cover and humidity above 75 per cent as well. A spell of rain can be expected in the morning with temperatures hovering around 17 degrees will welcome Virat Kohli's side.


The weather is likely to clear by afternoon at Lord’s with a maximum temperature of 23 degrees expected on the day. If India bat first in the second Test, England paceman James Anderson can expect plenty of assistance thanks to the heavy overhead atmosphere.
