Rishabh's father Rajendra Pant passed away in his sleep on Wednesday night at his home in Roorkee. He was 53. He is survived by his wife Saroj and daughter Sakshi, besides Rishabh.

After hearing the news, Rishabh rushed to Roorkee to perform the last rites.

According to multiple reports, he was suffering from fatigue for a few days.

Rishabh performed the last rites for his father on Thursday at Kankhal in Haridwar where his father was cremated.

The 19-year-old wicketkeeper batsman is likely to join the Delhi Daredevils squad in Bangalore on Friday.

The Zaheer Khan-led team is scheduled to play its opening match of the tenth season against Royal Challengers Bangalore at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore on April 8.

One of the most talented teenagers in Indian cricket, Rishabh recently was in news after he struck a brilliant 72-ball 99 to help Delhi thrash Tripura by 70 runs in a Vijay Hazare Trophy Group B one-day match in Cuttack.

After a sensational show in domestic cricket, Pant made his T20I debut for the Indian national team against England earlier this year. Later, he was also named the captain of the Delhi One day team replacing Gautam Gambhir.

At the age of 19, Pant is the youngest ever Indian cricketer to have received the T20I cap, breaking the record previously held by pacer Ishant Sharma.

Pant also created history by hammering the fastest hundred in Ranji Trophy, where he tonked 100 runs in just 48 balls against Jharkhand.
