On Wednesday, former India captain Mahendra Singh showed the world why he is regarded as one of the greatest statesmen of the game.

With Rising Pune Supergiant still needing more consolidation while chasing 156-run target set by hosts Kolkata Knight Riders in their IPL match, Dhoni was at the crease with opener Rahul Tripathi, who was going ballistic at 85.

While Pune needed Dhoni to bat till the end, their hopes were shattered in the 17th over of the innings. KKR spinner Kuldeep Yadav's first ball of the over spun away from Dhoni, who failed to read it and edged it to wicketkeeper Sheldon Jackson. While some batsmen stay glued to the crease until the umpire raises his finger, others immediately decided to walk off. In this case, it was not the umpire who sent Dhoni back, but the Ranchi man himself.

After playing the shot, he walked. He didn't even flinch.

Here's the video.

Not to forget, it was the second time in a row that Kuldeep had bamboozled Dhoni. In RPS' previous match against KKR, Kuldeep got Dhoni stumped after the latter charged down the wicket to the spinner, and failed to pick the ball which spun away from him and went into the hands of the wicketkeeper, who removed the bails in no time.
