After Mumbai Indians won the toss and opted to bat first, Quinton de Kock smashed a crucial knock of 53 runs off 43 balls before Kieron Pollard (34) and Nathan Coulter-Nile (24) stitched an unbeaten partnership of 57 runs to propel the Rohit Sharma-led side to a score of 176 for six in their stipulated 20 overs.
In reply, KXIP skipper KL Rahul led from the front as he notched up a crucial knock of 77 runs off 51 balls before being dismissed in the 18th over by Jasprit Bumrah. After his dismissal, Deepak Hooda took the responsibility and took KXIP close to the finish line.
Needing nine runs from the last over, Mumbai Indians' Trent Boult conceded just eight runs to Kings XI before Chris Jordan was run out on the last ball to force the match into the Super Over.
