New Delhi: There are clarifications galore, but it has by now turned into a half-truth that Pakistani actor Fawad Khan was playing the role of Virat Kohli in the MS Dhoni biopic. It somehow never made it to the post production product, and the movie became a success.

According to reports, the role hadn't been publicised since the makers wanted Fawad's role to be surprise package for the viewers. But in the wake of Uri attack, the role was removed just before the release to avoid any ruckus and possible second delay.

Sources also claimed that director Neeraj Pandey didn’t want the focus of the film to shift from MS Dhoni and Sushant Singh Rajput to Fawad Khan, Virat Kohli and Pakistan. (ALSO READ: Humbled with such an overwhelming response to the film, says Mahi)

It's important to mention that after the Uri attack, Raj Thackeray-led MNS (Maharashtra Navnirman Sena) had issued a 48-hour ultimatum to Pakistani actors and artists to leave India just ahead of the release of 'MS Dhoni'.

Had Pandey not omitted Fawad's role, the biopic might not have seen the light of the day, and probably would have been languishing in a post-production limbo like 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil', 'Raees' and 'Dear Zindagi'.

However, makers of the film claimed that Fawad was never a part of the film. (ALSO READ: MS Dhoni charged Rs 60 crore for his biopic!)

"Fawad Khan was never part of the film 'MS Dhoni: The Untold Story'. Even when we were casting the movie, he was not in the consideration set. Dhoni is an extremely realistic biopic and we have been true to that even in our casting," Fox Star Studios spokesman said in a statement.
