Apart from the World Cup glories, Dhoni also guided the team to several series win both home and away and soon was hailed as one of the best finisher in the sport.

However, despite having a great on-field record, Dhoni on few ocassions found himself on news for his off-field antics, be his huge collection of classic motorcycles or his alleged relationship with popular celebrities.

Among the ones, which found maximum media traction during 'Captain Cool's', a name associated with Dhoni because of his calm demeanour, early days as a leader was his love link-ups with South Indian actress Raai Laxmi.

Laxmi, who has been a cast of several Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam films, was said to be with Dhoni for almost a year, before the wicketkeeper-batsman decided to end things and settle down with old friend Saakshi in 2010.

According to reports, Dhoni and Laxmi met in 2008 after Suresh Raina took the CSK teammate to attend her birthday party during IPL. It is believed that the actress was so fond about the Ranchi cricketer that she admitted that the pair had tied the knot if Dhoni had proposed her.

However, Laxmi, who as per reports still shares cordial relationship with Dhoni, had once branded their alleged relationship as a huge stain in her life.

"I've begun to believe that my relationship with Dhoni is like a stain or a scar which won't go away for a long time. I am surprised that people still have the energy and patience left to talk about it even now. Every time TV channels dig into Dhoni's past, they make it a point to bring up our relationship. I dread to think that someday my kids in future will see it on TV and ask me about it!," Laxmi was quoted as saying in multiple news reports.

She added, "I have had three or four relationships after Dhoni, but no one seems to have noticed it."

Talking about her relation with the former India cricketer, Laxmi while promoting her movie Julie 2 had said: "It is not about dating or not dating. But people had quickly taken it to a level that I was going to get married to him- and that was simply not true. The hype got us into an awkward space and that is why I do not talk to the media much about thus– but I am talking a bit now. I do not want to speak about him in detail because I respect him a lot."
