Neeraj had thrown 87.58m in the final of the men's javelin throw at the Tokyo Olympics 2020 to finish with India's second-only individual gold medal ever. The first individual gold medal for India was won by shooter Abhinav Bindra in 10m rifle event.

India beat New Zealand in the semi-final to enter the final. This is the first U19 Women's T20 World Cup and India could become the first team to clinch the title but they have a strong opponent in England who are coming into the final after beating Australia in a nail-biting contest.

Key for India will be the opening batters captain Shafali Verma and Shweta Sehrawat. Shweta, in particular, has been in some tremendous form and needs to continue doing the good job at the top of the batting order. Sehrawat is on top of the batters with most runs in the tournament with 292 runs from 6 matches at strike rate of 141.06 and averages a massive 146. India's Parshavi Chopra is another big player for India in the final. She has had good time with the ball in hand in the tournament, picking 9 wickets in 6 matches.
