New Delhi: The Day 3 of the first Test between New Zealand and South Africa came to a abrupt halt on Friday after the match was was interrupted due to an alarm.

Dunedin's University Oval was evacuated, and the played was halted for some 15 minutes. It happened in the 7th over in South Africa's second innings with Dean Elgar and Hashim Alma in the centre.


Players from both the sides were herded to the middle of the picturesque ground.

It's reported that water sprinklers from the adjoining hockey stadium have also swung into action. Several fire engines have also arrived in the scene.


Luckily, nothing untoward happened but it's still no clear what caused the alarm.
