R Ashwin - Yasir Shah success: Did Shane Warne silently credit `surfaces` for both spinners` achievements?
R Ashwin also became the ICC No.1 Test bowler following his excellent display in the New Zealand series.
New Delhi: India's Ravichandran Ashwin and Paksitan's Yasir Shah recently achieved to commendable milestones in cricketer - 2nd fastest 200 Test wickets for the former and 2nd fastest 100 wickets for the latter.
For Ashwin, the achievement came during the home series against New Zealand when he trapped Kiwi skipper Kane Williamson in front to get to the 200-mark on day four of the first Test at the Green Park.
While for Shah, the achievement came during the series against West Indies when he dismissed tail-ender Miguel Cummins on fourth day of 1st Test between the two in Dubai.
The Indian offie also congratulated his Pakistani compatriot on the achievement and wished him luck to double up the figure soon.
Yasir too welcomed Ashwin's gesture and said that it was an inspiration to hear such great words from a great bowler like him.
While the whole world congratulated Ashwin and Shah on their respective success, legendary spinner Shane Warne too pitched with words of encouragement.
Warne wrote, "Congrats Yasir Shah and Ravichandran Ashwin on your records. I hope this form continues on all surfaces around the world as I love watching u guys."
The Chennai-born Indian off-spinner promptly replied to Warne saying, "thank you so much, this wish from you means the world to me."
Considering the apparent cold war between Harbhajan Singh and R Ashwin regarding Bhajji's 'tailor made pitches' jibe on India's dominance with spin during the New Zealand series, question arises on whether Warne too took a subtle dig at the surfaces Ashwin and Yasir have been bowling at these days with his tweet.
