Rohit Sharma shares the day he will remember for the rest of his life
He will continue to marshal Team India in the three-match T20I series, which starts on Wednesday (December 20) in Cuttack.
New Delhi: A day after leading India to their eighth straight ODI series win on Sunday, stand-in skipper Rohit Sharma shared "the day he will remember for the rest of my life" with fans.
Yesterday, India registered a convincing eight-wicket win over Sri Lanka in Vizag to claim the three-match series 2-1. Rohit didn't bother the scorers in the decider but, he led from the front to help India level the series 1-1 at Mohali with a double hundred.
But his teammates rose to the occasion and thumped the visitors.
Rohit, 30, on Monday, took to Twitter and wrote, "A day that I will remember for the rest of my life. Walking out with the team sheet for the 1st time was a feeling of it's own which can never be measured or compared with anything. Proud to be playing with the guys who have such great skill set & work ethic. Cannot be more happier."
In Virat Kohli absence, Rohit led India for the first time in the Dharamshala ODI on December 10. But the match proved to be a horror show for the hosts.
Lankan pacers bowled India out for a paltry 112, then chased down the target inside the 21st over, for a seven-wicket win.
But responded in style, with Rohit leading from the front in Mohali. In the match, the Hitman hit an unbeaten 208 off 153 balls with 13 fours and 12 sixes. It was his third ODI double hundred, a feat which unlikely to be repeated again.
