According to Mail Today, the city police believes that CCTV cameras play an important role in cracking complex cases and often provide vital leads to the investigating officer struggling to find some clue.

Though CCTV cameras have been installed at various places across the city, the cops often fail to solve the blind cases of robbery, murder, dacoity and other street crimes.

Amulya Patnaik, Delhi Police chief, believes if the cameras are installed at every place, crime would be curbed automatically as a criminal would also have a fear of being caught in the lens.

The top cop further stated that the CCTV cameras also help in giving weightage to the scientific evidence to corroborate oral evidence during a trial.

It was previously reported that the Delhi Police will soon integrate over 1.8 lakh CCTV cameras that are already installed by the associations of residents' welfare and markets along with the local police stations.
