NEW DELHI: Even as people came out in hundreds to celebrate the New Year, massive traffic jams were reported from various parts of the national capital.

With the gathering of more than one lakh pedestrians and heavy volume of motorists near the India Gate, the nearby roads are jam-packed.


On Sunday, the Delhi Traffic Police issued a fresh route advisory for traffic movement in Delhi, keeping in mind New Year's celebrations across the city.


Vehicular traffic in the inner, middle or outer circle area of Connaught Place will be restricted, said Delhi police. 


“Restrictions on the movement of all private and public transport vehicles shall be imposed from 8.30 P.M. onwards on 31.12.2017 in the vicinity of Connaught Place till the conclusion of New Year Celebrations,” said the advisories.

The police are trying to make diversions to ease the flow the traffic.
