Polikha said that he was clicking images of the historic monument at around 9:15 am when a young man snatched his phone and fled from the scene. None of his security personnel were reportedly present with him and his driver was also waiting near his car when the incident took place.

Delhi Police has filed a case at the Lal Quila Police station. The police have also retrieved the CCTV footage and are trying to nab the culprit. Nearly 100 men have reportedly been questioned in connection with the case.

Polikha reportedly said that before he could even think of chasing the culprit, he ran away with the phone. The envoy has provided the police with the identification details of the culprit to help them in the investigation.
