Defence counsel concludes arguments in Babri case
Rae Bareli, Aug 21: The defence counsel in the Babri Masjid demolition case against Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani and seven others today concluded his arguments in the special court here which fixed September 03 for framing of charges against them.

Both the parties, the CBI and the accused persons, including Advani, Union Minister M M Joshi, UP BJP chief Vinay Katiyar, former Union minister Uma Bharti and others have been
given an opportunity to submit papers in support of their arguments upto August 27.
Mridul Rakesh, in his arguments cited the three cases pending in the supreme court of the similar nature. The counsel said that from the video films and statements of several witnesses it was proved that his clients were not not present at the site when the mosque was demolished.
The defence counsel said in one of the cases registered by the station house officer of the area, the time of demolition was mentioned as 10.00 hrs while in another case filed by the chowki incharge of Ram Janmbhoomi it was mentioned as 10.32 hrs.
Similarly, he said there were contradictions in the statements of witnesses and there was no concrete material to prove their involvement in provoking the people for demolition of the mosque on December 6, 1992. Therefore the accused be discharged of all the charges. Bureau Report
