Mumbai, Feb 07: Underworld don Dawood Ibrahim's alleged associate Prasad Ramakant Khade was shot dead by the Mumbai Police at Ghatkopar in the north-eastern suburb here early today. Acting on a tip-off, a crime branch team, led by senior Inspector Praful Bhonsle, waylaid him near a bus depot and asked him to surrender.
Khade fired three rounds at the police party but was injured in the retaliatory fire. He was rushed to the nearby Rajawadi Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival, police said.
The gangster was wanted in at least seven cases of murder, attempt to murder, extortion and robbery. He had also been convicted earlier in a Tada case. He was believed to have been involved in 1999 J J Hospital shoot-out. Bureau Report
