New Delhi, Apr 06: Foreign Secretary Shashank today asked Pakistan to extend the Most Favoured Nation (MFN) status to India to fulfil its international trade obligations and expressed New Delhi's readiness for cooperation with Islamabad in the field of energy. The MFN status can be extended to us by Pakistan...We extended them this status a long time back, he said, addressing members of the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce on Indo-US economic cooperation here. He said the two countries could also look into the possibility of cooperation in the energy sector. Shashank asked the captains of Indian and American industry to undertake joint projects in the countries in India's immediate neighbourhood or distant lands. Time has come for us not only to consider joint projects in India or the US but also in countries in India's neighbourhood, he added. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) could certainly come out with schemes for facilitating such joint ventures. In this connection, he referred to some projects undertaken by India with Sri Lanka and Bhutan, which had been mutually beneficial for the two sides. Bureau Report
