Lucknow, July 01: Senior BJP leader Kalraj Mishra today admitted that differences still exist between the BJP and BSP cadre and expressed fear that if the trend continued, it may have an adverse impact on the coming general elections.
"These differences will have to be ironed out before the
Lok Sabha elections, otherwise there could be problems for the
alliance," Mishra told reporters here today.
BJP and BSP are to contest next year's general elections as partners.
Mishra said if the co-ordination between the two alliance partners improved, it would sweep the polls.
Last year, a coordination committee of the two parties had been formed after BJP cadre complained that they were being sidelined but it has almost become defunct.
Mishra said the political situation in the state was fluid and the BJP would have to play "a major role in retrieving" the situation. However, he did not elaborate.
Mishra, who is also the party's in-charge of UP affairs, said there were complaints from some districts about biased attitude of district officials towards leaders of the saffron party.
"Generally, the bureaucracy is a bit biased towards the party to which the chief minister belongs. But this should not mean that they (officials) should neglect other alliance partners," he said.
The BJP leaders have taken up this issue with Chief Minister Mayawati from time to time and she had co-operated with them, Mishra said.
