Hyderabad, Nov 16: Close on the heels of the dissolution of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly, Congress today demanded President's rule in the state alleging that the TDP government had "failed" on all fronts during its eight years of rule. "Rather than recommending dissolution of assembly on the plea of naxalite violence, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu should have resigned for his failure in containing the violence during last eight years of rule," senior Congress leader Y S Rajasekhar Reddy, who arrived here this morning from Delhi along with APCC president D Srinivas, told a press conference here.

"Congress will be in advantageous position over the announcement of early elections as the party would take up the issue of failures of the TDP government and its anti-people policies," Reddy, the leader of opposition in the state legislative assembly, said.

The leader of opposition said he, along with APCC president D Srinivas and other senior party leaders, interacted with the party high command at New Delhi over the situation arising out of the dissolution of the assembly and framing of strategies in contesting the elections. Congress will rope in all the like-minded parties in unseating the TDP in the coming elections, he said adding, "parties like Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen, Telangana Rashtra Samithi and left parties are in consultation with us."
