Balasore, Mar 25: Trishul, India's most sophisticated short-range missile, was successfully test fired from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur, about 13 km from Balasore in Orissa on Thursday. Indigenously developed by the Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO), the surface-to-air missile was test fired from a mobile launcher at about 2.52 pm, defence sources said.

The solid fuel propelled Trishul missile has a triple battlefield role for the army, air force and navy and has a range of nine km with the capacity of carrying a payload of 15 kg, the sources added. Bureau Report
