New Delhi, June 02: A four-member delegation led by Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit is leaving on a two-nation tour on Monday to see the work being done by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS). Delhi chief secretary Shailja Chandra, secretary to the chief minister Renu Sharma and MLA Arvinder Singh Lovely will be accompanying Dikshit on her trip to New York and Copenhagen in Denmark, a Delhi government release said here today.

They would study the advantages of the UNOPS model with a view to introduce internationally accepted norms for transparency and accountability in the government purchase. The delegation would particularly study the strengths and advantages of the system with specific reference to specific country models already serviced by UNOPS to understand the usefulness of such online systems in the context of Delhi government's procedures for purchase of goods and services, the release said.

In Copenhagen, they would also witness a demonstration of environment-friendly buses and visit a waste treatment plant while in New York, they would visit the environment protection agency and the metropolitan transport authority that manages and operates the city public transport system, it said.

The delegation would come back here on June 10, it said.
