Central Railway introduces platform ticket vending machine
Mumbai, Aug 15: Central Railway today introduced a platform ticket vending machine for faster, trouble-free and more efficient service at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus here on the occasion of the Independence Day.

the occasion of the Independence Day.
Inaugurating the machine, general manager, CR, S P S Jain said, "The state-of-the-art machine, taking lesser space, can accept multiple denomination coins for easier operation and it will reject non-standard coins or any other inserts like plastic coins".
Jain said the machine would accept coins at the rate of three inserts per second and thus eliminating the possibility of coins getting stuck in the machine or coins not being accounted due to speed of insertion. Addressing the railway employees on the occasion, Jain said after reorganisation of zonal railways, Pune-Kolhapur Section from South Central Railway has been included in Pune division. The route km of Central Railway after reorganisation is 3766 km and it serves Maharashtra, Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh connecting 472 stations.
Highlighting the efficiency of CR services, he said there was a reduction in the number of accidents by 36 per cent during the year.
