Chennai, Aug 03: The DMK, one of the constituents of the NDA at the Centre, today welcomed the Central Government's plan to hold informal consultations with its allies on synchronising the Lok Sabha and assembly polls and said the 'main problem' was how to implement the proposal. "Holding elections in a democratic set up is not like reshuffling playing cards. Therefore, a decision should be taken only after giving it deep thought,” DMK president, M Karunanidhi, said in a statement here.

On the Tamil Nadu government's refusal to pay salaries for July to the employees who went on strike early that month, Karunanidhi said "the people of the state will definitely dismiss the government, which was responsible for the strike".
