Colombo, Nov 12: At least four suspected Tamil Tiger rebels have escaped in a pre-dawn jail break in the eastern port city of Trincomalee district.
According to initial reports, the four LTTE suspects were housed in the Trincomalee jail in connection with the truce violations.
The truce agreement between the United National Front (UNF) government and the LTTE leadership was signed in February 2002. With the agreement of both parties, the Nordic truce monitors are overseeing the truce for the past 21 months.
