Atlantic City, June 28: England's Joanne Morley trailed the leading American trio by two shots in the first round in Atlantic City.
Morley fired a 67 to lead the British charge as Laura Davies, who was second in the Irish Open two weeks ago, carded a 68 alongside Johanna Head and Becky Morgan.
With temperatures soaring into the high 90s, Davies was happy overall with her round.
"I dropped a couple of shots at the eighth and ninth which was annoying," she said. "But it was good to hit back, especially in this heat."

The defending champion and world number one Annika Sorenstam and 13-year-old sensation Michelle Wie, shot 70 and 71 respectively.

US Solheim Cup player Laura Diaz, promising youngster Angela Stanford and the little-known Kris Lindstrom shared the top spot, one ahead of 43-year-old Juli Inkster, who next week defends the US Women's Open.
