Lucknow, June 22: Uttar Pradesh legislator Akhilesh Singh, who is absconding after being accused in a criminal case, today announced he was withdrawing support to the Mayawati government. "Mayawati is ruling up in a dictatorial style and not in a democratic way. She thinks by creating fear psychosis she can run the government. This is a threat to democracy", he said.

"Taking into consideration the people's aspirations I am withdrawing support to her government", the MLA told Zee News. Singh, who had formed Akhil Bharatiya Congress Dal along with seven other Congress MLAs after being expelled from the party had supported the BSP-BJP government. Later the seven legislators joined BSP and were inducted into the council of ministers.

He claimed that the Mayawati government would soon fall as about 24 MLAs, including some ministers, would withdraw support to it. Singh said, "We have saved the government earlier. Now with the help of Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav we will bring down the government".

He alleged Mayawati had threatened Priyanka Gandhi and Yadav. She filed over 100 cases against Yadav, he said adding that "if this is the plight of a senior leader I can't think of an ordinary worker like me". The legislator, charged with murder of a Congress leader's brother in Rae Bareilly, has been absconding since the last about three months and carries a reward on his head.
