Los Angeles: Hollywood's power couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt opened up about the actresses' decision to undergo two preventive surgeries to reduce the risk of cancer.
The couple, who will be seen reuniting on-screen for the first time in 10 years in their upcoming film "By the Sea", said they did what ever was needed to keep everyone together, reported People magazine.
"I knew through the surgeries that he (Pitt) was on my side and that this wasn't something where I was going to feel less of a woman, because my husband wasn't going to let that happen," Jolie, 40, said.
The "Maleficent" actress lost her grandmother and mother following a long battle with ovarian cancer, decided to undergo a double mastectomy in 2013 after learning she carried BRCA1 gene that increases the risk of cancer.
Two years later she decided to get her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed.
Respecting her decision Pitt, 51, never questioned her and stood by as a strong support.
"Support. Whatever's got to be done to keep the family together, and keep the family together as long as possible is going to be done. This was her charge, no question. It's a scary decision.
There's many things that can go wrong and go many different directions," he said.
"You have to just make the choices you make in life. I made the choices I made because I believed they were right for me," Jolie added.
