Dec 06: John McEnroe continued his impressive run at the Honda Challenge with a straight-sets victory over Mats Wilander at the Royal Albert Hall. McEnroe beat his Swedish opponent 7-5 6-3 to complete a third win in a row and seal top spot in the Accord Group. The American had already seen off Britain's Jeremy Bates and Frenchman Guy Forget. McEnroe, who at 44 is the oldest man in the event, will face Michael Stich in Saturday's semi-final. Stich finished second in the Civic Group behind Henri Leconte after he was beaten 2-6 6-2 8-10 by the Frenchman in their match on Friday. Leconte will now face Accord Group runner-up Forget, who beat Britain's Jeremy Bates on Friday, after Bates retired in the second set. Later on Friday, Boris Becker beat Swede Mikael Pernfors 3-6 6-4 10-5, but failed to make the semi-finals following earlier defeats by Leconte and Stich. Bureau Report
