New Delhi, Apr 14: Power Ministry on Wednesday said 2590 MW fresh hydel capacity has been added during the last financial year while dismissing reports that power regulator CERC had questioned this capacity addition.
"We have added 2590 MW fresh hydel capacity in 2003-04 and this is 200 per cent of the best ever capacity addition of 1300 MW achieved in the past," Power Secretary R V Shahi told reporters on the sidelines of a conference organised by Powerline here.
It was reported that CERC Chairman Ashok Basu and the South Block had questioned Power Ministry's claims and the actual hydel capacity addition could be as low as 2090 MW. Bureau Report
