Singapore, May 23: Rolta India Ltd is planning to set up a subsidiary in Singapore, which is expected to be operational by June 30 next, in an attempt to tap the over 7,000 multinational companies stationed in the country and extend its reach to South East Asian markets. "The proposed subsidiary would focus primarily on providing high-end engineering, designing and geo-engineering, mainly to MNC’s in Singapore," Rolta India joint managing Director Atul D Tayal said today. The company would also provide e-security and mapping services in the country, he said adding Singapore was selected due to its strategic positioning in the region. Rolta India is also believed to be in talks with Singapore-based companies for probable tie-ups. However, Tayal declined to name any of the companies or investments that would be coming into Singapore.
The company, which provides knowledge-based, comprehensive IT solutions and services in engineering design, geo-engineering, geographical information systems (GIS) and E-solutions, had earlier set up subsidiaries in US, Canada, UK, Europe, Middle East and Asia Pacific regions. Recently, Rolta India and Stone & Webster Inc, a subsidiary of the Shaw Group Inc, had formed a joint venture firm, Stone & Webster Rolta India Ltd, to provide engineering and design services and undertake Turnkey projects in India.
Besides, the joint venture would also leverage the companies' infrastructure capabilities and expertise in India to execute global engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracts in the country. Bureau Report
