Taipei, May 07: Taiwan is expected to allow the employment of technology professionals from China to ease the island's acute labor shortage in hi-tech industries, the Economic Daily News reported on Friday. The Council of Labor Affairs is currently drafting measures to allow employers with annual sales of at least one billion Taiwan dollars (30 million US dollars) to hire the mainland professionals, the report said, without citing a source. The Chinese technology professionals must have at least a bachelor's degree and over two years of working experience. The new measure is expected to become effective next month at the earliest, the report added. Council officials, meanwhile, declined to confirm or deny the report. Bureau Report
