George, Nov 22: Ernie Els of South Africa and Tiger Woods of the United States seemed to have found their golfing soulmates Friday after two grueling rounds of the Presidents Cup. The tournament, being played over the 7,489-yard Links course at the Fancourt Hotel and Country Club Estate, is the fifth playing of a match between the United States and players from the rest of the world excluding Europe.

The American team won three of the five four-ball matches Friday, and four of the five alternate shot foursomes, to take a 9 1/2 to 6 1/2 lead.

Els and Australia's Adam Scott have won both their matches in the tournament as the pair has knitted together into a formidable combination.
Woods and countryman Charles Howell III won two and lost one in a formidable match play pairing. Bureau Report
