Bhopal, Oct 30: Accusing Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh of heading a `band of thieves', BJP leader Uma Bharti today demanded a CBI probe into his links with Indore-based businessman Subhash Gupta and their alleged foreign trips. "There should be a CBI probe into alleged corruption, Singh's relationship with Gupta and their foreign trips together. If the Chief Minister is clean, he should not be reluctant in seeking CBI enquiry," Bharti told reporters here.
Since Singh has denied having gone abroad with Gupta, whose premises in Indore were recently searched by Income Tax Department, he should present the details of the entries in the passports of both for public scrutiny, Bharti said.
BJP's star campaigner claimed that she would come out with all evidences about allegations of corruption against Singh and Gupta on November 04.
"The matter is very serious and when proofs are placed before people, every body will know the truth," she said.
"Gupta's close links with the Chief Minister, his `sudden and mysterious' rise and frequent foreign visit by them could be a `manifestation of corrupt practices' being resorted to I have already alleged that corruption to the tun of Rs 15,000 crore was committed in last ten years," she claimed.
Asked why she is not approaching Lok Ayukta, Bharti said there is no point in doing so and claimed that there are charges against 20-22 state ministers but the state government is not taking any action against them.
