New Delhi, Nov 22: BJP today demanded an apology from the Congress to President and six Central Ministers for creating an "unnecessary controversy" on the basis of "unsubstantiated" reports of alleged milking of PSUs by the ministers.
"With the Central Vigilance Commissioner clearing all
those who have been accused by the Congress, that party owes
an apology to President, the entire nation, six Central
Ministers and the BJP for giving a false memorandum.
"This has clearly exposed the Congress' bankruptcy and such an action does not befit a national party like the Congress," BJP president M Venkaiah Naidu told reporters here.
He said the Congress, instead of indulging in "such cheap propaganda and raking up non-issues, would do well to explain to the people its own silence on the scams and the substantiated charges being made against its own four state governments and specially those of Maharasthra and Karnataka on the Telgi stamp scam issue".
Naidu said the Congress governments in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi and Maharasthra are sitting pretty on the negative reports of the Lok Ayukta on their ministers. "It is time the party came clean on this issue," he said.
The BJP president charged the Congress with dragging the highest constitutional institution, namely, the President of India, by submitting a memorandum to him based on "sheer gossip and speculation". Bureau Report
