Washington, Mar 20: The United States has named more three countries -- Bulgaria, Portugal and Singapore -- as part of its "coalition of the willing" to disarm Iraq. Some 33 nations have now identified themselves as supporting an imminent invasion, though the total number of states backing or participating in the coalition remained at 45.
The three new members had previously been part of a group of 15 countries that preferred to keep their support anonymous, the state department said.
"I'm moving them from one column to another, I'm not adding three to the total," spokesman Richard Boucher said.
On Tuesday, the state department released a list of 30 countries that have offered troops, overflight rights, logistical support for an Iraq invasion or a role in post-war Iraqi reconstruction projects, and added that 15 others would play a behind-the-scenes role.
