Madurai, July 24: A second grade warder of Madurai Central Prison, who was transferred to Melur Sub Jail recently, managed to nab Kandasamy, one of the four prisoners who had escaped from the government Rajaji Hospital on Friday last.
Police said the warder Pandi, who recognised the prisoner waiting at the Melur bus stand, 30 km from here, gave a hot chase and managed to nab him late last night.
The warder, an athlete himself, was suspicious about the prisoner standing the bus stand. But at the same time the prisoner also recognised Pandi and attempted to run away, but was nabbed by the warder, police said.
While another prisoner surrendered at a court here on Tuesday, two others were still at large, police said.
