Krall, Fatone, Caldwell Croon for `Cooler`
NY, Oct 15: Jazz artists Diana Krall and Bobby Caldwell as well as `N Sync`s Joey Fatone are among the artists contributing to the lounge vibe of `The Cooler` soundtrack.
Set in Las Vegas, "The Cooler" stars William H. Macy as a gambler, Maria Bello as the cocktail waitress who turns his luck around and Alec Baldwin as the director of the aging Shangri-La casino. The Lions Gate film opens Nov. 19 in New York and Los Angeles and Dec. 19 across the U.S.
Sorvino plays Buddy Stafford, a heroin-addicted lounge singer, and turns out a performance of "Getting To Be a Habit With Me" on the album. Fatone appears in the film as upstart singer Johnny Capella, who steals Stafford's gig with his performance of "Can I Steal a Little Love."
Krall lends a rendition of the standard "I'll String Along With You" and Caldwell contributes "Luck Be a Lady." Newcomer Sutton adds a version of "My Funny Valentine" to the soundtrack.
The collection will be the debut release for the Commotion label, co-founded by former CBS Records chief Walter Yetnikoff and soundtrack veteran Tracy McKnight.
