New Delhi, Nov 26: Maintaining that cross-border terrorism continued, Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani today said the gesture of accepting ceasefire on the borders was
aimed at demonstrating New Delhi's desire for peace which could come only if Pakistan abandoned terrorism.
"Cross-border terrorism still continues. There is no
abatement in that," he told a news channel.
He said during the last couple of months, "There have been many attempts at the border of sending infiltrators. There is no let-up."
In September alone 200 terrorists were killed by security forces, which is an all-time high figure, Advani said.
He said India's response on ceasefire on the border despite the prevailing situation "strengthens India's credentials internationally that India wants peace”.
"But peace can come only if Pakistan abandons terrorism," he added.
On his proposed dialogue with Hurriyat, he said he was "looking forward" to the talks and hoped it would be of "some avail".
