London, Mar 25: A small number of injured British soldiers has been flown from Iraq to Cyprus for treatment before being taken home to Britain, the defence ministry said. "Injured British personnel are coming back to Akrotiri with the plan to bring them further on to the United Kingdom as and when flights are available and their condition is appropriate," a spokesman said yesterday. No details were given of the exact numbers of troops involved or the nature of their injuries.
Akrotiri is one of two British sovereign bases on Cyprus and the largest British air base abroad. Bureau Report
