Hyderabad, Dec 02: Making a hardsell of investment
opportunities in Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister N Chandrababu
Naidu today sought investments from Israel in agriculture,
horticulture and micro-irrigation sectors in the state.
Making a presentation before visiting Israeli Ambassador
David Danieli and a 12-member delegation of Israeli
agro-technology industry, Naidu said there was a vast
investment potential waiting to be tapped in agriculture and
horticulture sectors and a potential of 114 million hectares
for micro-irrigation.
"AP has 100 million land holdings with 142 million hectares of net area sown. It offers huge opportunity for technology upgradation," he said and lauded Israel's innovative technologies to transform agriculture sector.
Outlining his government's initiatives in introducing modern technologies in agriculture sector, he cited the success story of 'Kuppam project' where integrated agricultural development model was being implemented with Israeli assistance.
The project, being implemented in Naidu's home constituency since 1997, has so far covered 10,000 acres under high-value vegetable crops and resulted in improving the net revenue per acre per annum from 100 us dollars to 920 us dollars, the Chief Minister said adding that another 10,000 hectares would be covered in the second phase.
