Chandigarh, June 19: A local court today remanded suspended first class Judicial Magistrate S S Bhardwaj to judicial custody till July three in an alleged graft case.

suspended first class Judicial Magistrate S S Bhardwaj to judicial custody till July three in an alleged graft case.
Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Harbhajan Dass sent Bhardwaj, who gave a slip to CBI officials on may nine and was arrested on June nine, to judicial custody after hearing arguments from of the prosecution and defence counsels.
While the prosecution argued that they needed three days of police remand of the accused, the defence counsel maintained that the CBI had no fresh ground to seek extension in custody.
The prosecution submitted that the accused was not cooperating in the investigation and was changing statements regarding the mobile phone he had used while he was on the run.

The counsel for Bhardwaj pleaded that the CBI was seeking extension in custody to harass his client.
Bhardwaj is accused of accepting bribe on behalf of
district and Sessions Judge R M Gupta, who is in judicial custody.
