New Delhi, Nov 23: As ruling Congress and BJP fight it out at the hustings in Kasturba Nagar Assembly constituency in a posh locality of Delhi, an underdog Janata Dal (Secular) is all set to affect fortunes at the seat. JD(S), which is contesting at 10 seats in Delhi, has fielded a woman social worker R Rosy to wrest the constituency where contrasting combination of villagers and elites form the electorate.
Housing localities of Kotla Mubarakpur village and posh Defence Colony besides parts of Lajpat Nagar, the constituency in south Delhi has a mixture of population of jats, backwards and upper class.
While BJP's Sushil Chaudhary is making all-out efforts to retain his seat, Ashok Chopra of Congress and Rosy, JD(S) national general secretary are working to wrest the constituency from him.
Despite being pitted against the candidates of two major parties, Rosy is unfazed as she banks upon the social work done in the area for years through a non-governmental organisation (NGO) run by her.
"I am not least perturbed by the fact that I have a contest against candidates of two major parties. I have my work to show which is not true with my contenders," says Rosy.
