Jammu, Sept 16: Foreign mercenaries-dominated Lashkar-e-Toiba received a major jolt, when a district commander of the outfit was killed in an encounter in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir last night, official sources said today. On specific information about let militants holding a meeting at a cave hideout in Chingl Top in Banihal hills of Doda district last night, specialised troops of Rashtriya Rifles launched a cordon and search operation, sources said.
Militants, who were guarding the venue fired at troops from their positions on hills, helped in escaping of commanders, they said, adding security personnel retaliated.
An LeT district commander Abdul Latif Bhind received bullet injury in his leg and was later killed in an encounter, the sources said, adding two more militants were injured but they managed to escape.
One AK rifle, three magazines, one pistol, one pistol magazine, 11 grenades and 10 hand grenades and one radio set were recovered from him, they added. Bureau Report
