Ahmedabad, May 10: One person was killed and seven others injured when a minor road accident snowballed into a communal clash in the coastal city of Bhavnagar, about 200 kms from here today, police said. Mobs from both communities gathered in the Ranika area of the city and heavily pelted stones and bottles at each other after the altercation between an autorickshaw driver and inmates of a car, which were involved in a minor accident, took an ugly turn, reports reaching state police control said. One person died due to multiple injuries inflicted by some "sharp-edged weapon", police said.
Four policemen, including two state reserve police jawans, and three reporters of local dailies were injured in the clashes, they said. Police fired four rounds in the air to disperse the rioting mob. They said the situation was now "totally under control" and patrolling had been intensified in the area. Bureau Report
