Chandigarh, Jan 25: The temperature in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh dipped below normal at most of the places today with Amritsar recording the lowest of two degrees celsius. The meteorological department has also forecast light to moderate rains in the northern region.

The mercury hovered between one to three degrees celsius below the normal in Punjab and Haryana, MeT office said here.

Amritsar recorded a low of two degrees and a high of 17.2 degrees being the coldest place in the two states. The temperature was three degrees below normal in Amritsar, it said.
Chandigarh had a foggy morning and it recorded a low of 6.4 degrees and a high of 14 degrees - two degrees below the normal, the met office added.

Ambala recorded 6.6 degrees celsius, Hisar 7.5, Ludhiana 6, and Patiala 6.1 degrees celsius.

Bathinda, Ambala, Sirsa and Amritsar were also cloaked by dense fog in the early hours of the day, it said.
