Grewal arrested in connection with case against Badal
Kharar, Nov 27: A Chandigarh resident Gurpinder Singh Grewal, director of Sarai Group of companies, and an associate of Rajya Sabha MP and SAD general secretary Sukhbir Badal`s father-in-law Satyajit Singh Majithia, was today formally arrested by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) in a case of corruption and disproportionate assets registered against former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal and others in Sas Nagar on June 24.
Kharar, Nov 27: A Chandigarh resident Gurpinder Singh Grewal, director of Sarai Group of companies, and an associate of Rajya Sabha MP and SAD general secretary Sukhbir Badal's father-in-law Satyajit Singh Majithia, was today formally arrested by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) in a case of corruption and disproportionate assets registered against former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal and others in Sas Nagar on June 24.
On the basis of a production warrant issued against him by Kharar court on Tuesday on the request of VB, Grewal was produced before the court here today.
VB had earlier arrested Grewal in a case of corruption, accumulation of disproportionate assets, cheating, forgery and criminal conspiracy against sad MLA from Joga and former Punjab milkfed chairman Jagdeep Singh Nakai registered at Sas Nagar on July 28.
While Nakai had already been granted bail by the high court, Grewal was in judicial custody since November 4 in Naka I's case.
The prosecution, after acceptance of its formal request to arrest Grewal in a case against Badals, sought police remand for the accused on the grounds of his further interrogation and investigation in Badals' case.
