New Delhi, Oct 18: The Supreme Court today termed the difference of opinion between chairman of National Commission for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe and National Human Rights Commission on the Best Bakery case as an "internal matter" and said it should be solved internally. Appearing for the chairman of the SC/ST Commission, senior advocate P C Mishra alleged before a three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice V N Khare that the chairman, who was a member of the NHRC, had no knowledge of any meeting where it was decided that the human rights body would file an appeal before the apex court in best bakery and other riots cases.
"We do not understand the role which the NHRC is playing. The chairman of the SC/ST Commission was not aware of any meeting where it was decided that such an appeal would be filed before the apex court," Mishra, who also appeared for Gujarat government, submitted.
Brushing aside the arguments, the Chief Justice said "it is your internal matter. You sort out your differences among yourselves. Don't wash all that here."
Chairman of the ST/SC Commission Bizay Sonkar Sastry had accused the NHRC chairman of acting in a unilateral manner in filing the appeal before the apex court seeking transfer of the Best Bakery as well as nine other riot cases outside the state of Gujarat.
