Imphal, Nov 12: The bullet-riddled body of Lungnila Elizabeth, kidnapped for ransom by militants over a week ago, was today recovered from near her school, about 3 km from here in Imphal West district, officials sources said. The body of the eight-year old daughter of Manipur Minister for General Administration Francis Ngajokpa was found in a sack dumped in a pond at Sangaiporou Sathokpam area, about one and half km west of Little Flower High School, where she was a student of standard three.

The body has been sent to Regional Institute of Medical Science Hospital for postmortem, the sources said adding, it was not exactly known when the child was shot dead.

Hospital sources said the body of the abducted girl was found in a decomposed state. Elizabeth had been abducted after school on November 4 by about six unidentified militants from Imphal airport area and taken in a van to an unknown destination, the sources said.

The kidnappers had demanded a ransom of Rs 15 lakh out of which at least Rs 10 lakh had reportedly been paid to them. Police are investigating why the girl had been killed even after payment of Rs 10 lakh, the sources said.
