President George W Bush urged Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf to crack down on two groups accused of staging an attack on India`s Parliament and promised US help in the effort.
``The president calls on him to take action against the Lashkar-e-Toiba, the Jaish-e-Mohammed and other terrorist organizations, their leaders and their finances,`` White House spokesman Ari Fleischer said. ``The President will support President Musharraf in his efforts against terrorism.`` India said members of the Lashkar-e-Toiba and another Pakistan-based group, Jaish-e-Mohammed, staged the attack on Parliament last week in which 14 people, including the five assailants, were killed.
``President Musharraf has condemned the terrorist attacks on the legislature in Srinagar and on the Indian Parliament. He has said that he would move against those involved in the attacks,`` Fleischer said. ``President Bush has every confidence in President Musharraf`s capacity to act against the terrorists.`` Bureau Report
