New Delhi, Aug 17: Gearing up for the coming Delhi Assembly polls, BJP today launched a "parivartan rath yatra" led by its local unit chief Madan Lal Khurana to "expose failures" of the Shiela Dikshit government.
Before the flag off of the 35-day yatra by Union ministers B C Khanduri and Jagmohan, an "ashwamedha yagya" was performed at a temple in Dwarka in southwest Delhi.
A special `rath` has been borrowed from Rajasthan BJP chief Vasundhara Raje who recently undertook a similar yatra.
Starting the yatra, Khurana alleged that Congress had never cared for statehood of Delhi, during the last 50 years and charged that Delhi Congress government with being deeply involved in corruption.
The yatra is scheduled to cover two constituencies each day.
Incidentally, the BJP launched the yatra amid a similar yatra by Congress.
During the yatra, the saffron party will highlight the issues of statehood and the recent controversial master plan guidelines besides "failures" of the Congress government.
The party will seek to put across to the people the "advantages" of statehood and the master plan guidelines and claim credit for it, Khurana said.
